Ranunculus ‘Hanoi’
The beautiful undulating petals of this Ranunculus ‘Hanoi’(Persian Buttercup) caught Claxton’s eye on a trip back to England visiting family and friends. Reminiscent of English garden roses or peonies, the flowers open up fully to reveal a green eye in their center which is the focal point of this artwork. Its dainty tissue-thin petals create a mesmerising pattern reflecting the symbolism of the flower’s charm. This gentle bloom originated from Central Asia and eventually reached Europe, connecting Claxton’s love of the two continents. The artwork has been finely drawn using the iPad as a drawing medium.
